The roots of Medicine have been steeped in Magic and Religion across many cultures since since the early days of Homo Sapiens.
English anthropologist W Rivers showed us how history sometimes blurs the lines between these practices to the extent that they cannot be distinguished.
The picture on the left is neither of magical nor religious origin, but a 14th century anatomical drawing by Jacopo Berengario da Carpi.
The one on the right does not show the pulse of a patient being checked by a physician, but Jesus healing Jairus’ daughter. A miracle no less.
