A late 19th century two draw telescopic brass banjo style ear trumpet signed by Hawksley a London based maker of quality instruments.
These ear trumpets work by reflecting sound from one receiver (the main concave dish) into the receiving tube which lies in front of the dish and directs the sound towards the earpiece. The trumpet is made of brass which has been finished in black. There is a cartouche on the stem which reads ‘Hawksley 351 Oxford Street London’. The extended trumpet measured 42 cm.
