A hallmarked silver female urinary catheter with its obturator

The catheter would be introduced with the obturator inserted to prevent backward flow during catheterisation. When removed urine would pass through the distal eyelet out through the catheter. The hook allowed the catheter to be secured in place. The hallmark K and lion and crown place this item from Sheffield and date it to 1877.
