A silver lancet case with 4 tortoise shell thumb lancets which would have been carried by a 19th century physician to bleed his patients.

The case is finely worked with a geometrical design and has a cartouche on one side engraved with the letters “J C”.¬†Full silver hallmarks date the case to 1830 and the Birmingham silversmiths Taylor and Perry. Three of the tortoise shell lancets are signed Macleod.
