An early 20th century ear trumpet of the Dome type made from anodised brass.
The body of the trumpet is in superb condition and the anodised finish has worn into a beautiful patina over the years. The maker’s mark is engraved on the front within a simple banner:
LOUIS LAFONT
11 RUE VIGNON PARIS
The earpiece is made from celluloid and appears fixed. Because it would have been stored face down, something closer to the original finish can be seen on the grille, or on this ear trumpet which is the same model but probably a later date. The grille has been made in a fetching ornate design and the ensemble fits snugly in the hand. A fine example of Lafont at his best
