A London dome ear trumpet which has an unusual leather covering

The dome configuration was an effect shape for pocket sized ear trumpets and these were commonly seen in black Japanned or painted brass. This upmarket example has been been beautifully finished in fine black leather which has worn remarkably well over the years. The fixed ear piece is made from gutta percha.
