A rare set of five antique French gold Label Under Glass (LUG) apothecary jars.

The set contains three different sized jars all of the same design with sky blue glass and LUG labels made from gold leaf. They have painted tin lids which are gilt edged typical of the French apothecary style. The labels read:

• POUD:OLIBAN
• BIPH:CHAUXS
• SULPH:CUIVRE
• SEM:MOUNT:BL
• POIVRE:ESPAG

The jars have smooth pontils and date to the late 19th century. The largest 180 x 105 is smallest 120 x 85 mm.
