An antique ear trumpet of the convoluted type dating to the mid 19th century.

The trumpet would have been constructed by a smithy soldering together wedges of tin tubing made from a single sheet of tin. The earpiece was made from a solid piece of solder. The trumpet has a black external and a copper wash internal finish now showing signs of wear over 160 years or so
