A superb example of a late 19th century Liebreich Ophthalmoscope. The embossed leather case is lined with mauve silk and velvet.
The ophthalmoscope has a detachable ebony handle. The silk lined lid opens to show a full complement of all five smaller lenses. Velvet flaps at either end of the base of the case conceal two larger lenses. The There has been a material repair (which looks old) to the back hinge. The case is solid and robust with a latch which closes securely.
