An unusual rubberised ear horn in the London dome style.

This early 20th century innovation was an attempt to protect the ear trumpet, so many of which received knocks and dents (quite possibly by being thrown at the floor by their frustrated owners!) The earpiece is made from Bakelite and screws onto the connector with a tight thread.
