A fine 18th Century silver gilt German pap boat.
A beautiful example of an early European silver pap boat, which is more shallow and elongated in style than English pap boats of the time and with a characteristic handle. The inner surface has retained its gilt covering. The initials GD on the side of the boat are likely to have been the owner’s. The “13” is the loth mark of silver purity which is equivalent to 812/1000. The mark F*I is the makers mark which is unidentified.
