A silver lancet case with 4 tortoise shell thumb lancets which would have been carried by a 19th century physician to bleed his patients.
The case is finely worked with a geometrical design and has a cartouche on one side engraved with the letters “J C”. Full silver hallmarks date the case to 1830 and the Birmingham silversmiths Taylor and Perry. Three of the tortoise shell lancets are signed Macleod.
