Telescopic Bone Ear Trumpet

  1. Items>
  2. Current Item

An unusual ear trumpet which has been constructed through a marriage of parts.

The telescopic section is early 20th century green and orange Bakelite and the receiving section is made from animal bone which looks old (circa 18th century). It may once have been a powder keg or hip flask and would not have been constructed this way but has been modified, although to a good standard. The bone “bell” matches and fits very well with the other sections leaving it stable and functional. I suspect this has seen a good bit of service in its current form. Height retracted: 165 mm Extended: 305 mm. Circumference: 60 mm
