An antique ear trumpet  made from vulcanite.

This is identical to the example shown on P21 of Beem’s  “De Historie van het Hoortoetel” and is thought to be of Dutch origin. Attractive concentric rings and lightweight so as to be easily held in the pocket. These trumpets are simple in design but are not commonly seen.
